Thandiwe Muriu found pictures on the age of 14, when she says her father put a digicam in her palms and she or he by no means put it down. After breaking boundaries as Kenya’s first feminine business photographer, she started creating her personal private work and entered the artwork scene in 2020 along with her ‘Camo’ collection: vibrant images of ladies wearing colourful wax materials which might be half portrait and half optical phantasm are. From her use of wax prints and on a regular basis objects to her use of African proverbs, her work is layered with that means. In Paris, for her first main solo present, Thandiwe Muriu spoke with Alison Sargent about her want to encourage ladies, Kenyans and all those that have been traditionally devalued.
